Welcome to Adventures with Ensuite! We are Kristin and Ben and live and work in London. In our free time we love to travel.
This is Kristin and I was born in Norway. I caught the travel bug after spending a year in Japan as part of my schooling and subsequently backpacking across South-East Asia with a school friend.
When it came to university the travel bug raised its head again and I decided to study in the UK. This turned into a job in London and marrying an Englishman called Ben. I have lived in the UK ever since and now consider myself a Londoner as well as a Norwegian.
You could argue Ben is also living abroad since he grew up in Wales but now lives with me in London. Having travelled less than me when we met, Ben was immediately thrown in at the deep end. In fact, our first holiday together being a 3 week trip to India.
Luckily it ended up with us getting married rather than getting Dehli-belly (although we got a bit of that too!). We have now travelled to 80 countries together as of the last count.

As I mentioned Ben and I live and work in London so like most of you reading this we are restricted to measly amount of annual leave each year. We want to use this limited freedom in the best way we can!
With full time jobs, whereas time is limited, we have the luxury of two salaries. This enables us to stay in decent hotels and sometimes take a taxi rather than the local bus. Whilst at the same time travelling to destinations most our friends and colleagues would struggle even to place on a map!

We have always been drawn to off the beaten path destinations. There is something magical about travelling to places where the wildlife, architecture, landscapes and everyday life are so completely different to Western Europe. Hopefully the photos and information contained within this website will inspire you to plan your next trip to an unusual destination!
Why we decided to start a blog
The idea for this website developed from the research we do when planning our own trips. There are many good websites and blogs for backpackers. However, there are very few for people that are free-time constrained but with a decent budget. We also find that most tend to be focused on a slightly younger audience than us. Since we are both in our early 40s we have to sadly admit we’re in the older category!
For us (well, me at least), researching where to go on holiday, what to do there and how to do it is part of the enjoyment. I enjoy finding hotels that are quirky and unique. Such as staying at a vineyard in Armenia or on a private island in Indonesia. But these also need to meet my requirement of being clean and comfortable with en-suite facilities.

Our website will cover what to see in each destination and how to get around whilst you’re there. Limited time often results in us asking ourselves; “how much can we manage to squeeze into this holiday without needing another one when we get home?” We have tried to reflect this here. All the suggested itineraries are generally the itineraries we followed.
If you prefer a slower way of travel we have also indicted where we would spend an extra day or two if we had time.
We have travelled to all the locations and we have stayed in all the hotels which we describe and recommend. Our opinions are honest ones. Happy travels!
